Starting August 5, UBCO IT will enable an automated update from Windows 10 to Windows 11 on targeted IT managed devices. The upgrade will happen automatically, and you can continue working on your device as normal while the initial software installation begins.

We are excited to announce the launch of the new Mail Sentry service, designed to enhance visibility into emails filtered and quarantined by UBC’s mail-relays. This tool allows UBC faculty and staff to effectively monitor and manage emails caught in spam and policy filters, ensuring improved email security and communication efficiency.

Microsoft recently announced the end-of-life date for Windows 10 editions as October 14, 2025. After this date, no further feature updates or security patches will be available for Windows 10. UBC IT is now planning for the upgrade to Windows 11, Microsoft’s current operating system offering.

UBCO IT Voice Services will be implementing necessary changes to the voicemail system on November 16, 2022. Users with Hot Desk telephone services will be impacted. UBCO IT requests that Hot Desk telephone service users prepare for this change by ensuring they know their voicemail passcode.

Starting March 1, centrally managed Windows 10 devices (version 1909 and older) at UBC Okanagan will receive the latest version of Windows 10 (21H2). Once updates are available, you will have up to two weeks to restart your device.
