Starting August 5, UBCO IT will enable an automated update from Windows 10 to Windows 11 on targeted IT managed devices. The upgrade will happen automatically, and you can continue working on your device as normal while the initial software installation begins.

Faculty, Staff and Researchers can now self-upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11 directly from the Software Center on all IT-managed workstations.

Microsoft recently announced the end-of-life date for Windows 10 editions as October 14, 2025. After this date, no further feature updates or security patches will be available for Windows 10. UBC IT is now planning for the upgrade to Windows 11, Microsoft’s current operating system offering.

Starting March 1, centrally managed Windows 10 devices (version 1909 and older) at UBC Okanagan will receive the latest version of Windows 10 (21H2). Once updates are available, you will have up to two weeks to restart your device.

Cisco Advanced Malware Protection (AMP) is now the recommended and preferred malware protection solution for all computers managed by UBC IT.
