Secure Print - Tap to Release New

Secure Print is a feature of the PaperCut software that was implemented to improve security, reduce costs and lower our environmental footprint. In a standard printing environment, a user's print job is sent directly to the device for immediate printing. This can result in wasted paper and toner when printing is forgotten and not collected. It also presents a security risk if those forgotten jobs were sensitive or confidential.
This feature is now available on all the new Ricoh managed printers.

Secure Print for Xerox

Xerox multi-function printers allow users to ensure the physical security of their documents by requiring that a PIN be entered at the printer before a document begins to print. This allows you to print a document from your computer and then walk to the printer before the document begins printing, preventing others from viewing the document before you arrive.

Student Printing at the Library

Starting January 2, 2019, the UBC Okanagan Library will transition to a new process for Student printing. Instead of the current requirement to release print jobs from the Pay for Print system on the desktop, students will now be able to print from any library computer and then simply “Swipe” their UBC Student Card to release their print job at any of the Library/Commons printers.
